Work Package 6: COASTLINE Platform
Leader: Aegean Solutions S.A.
WP6 serves as the central core work package, tasked with designing, developing, and implementing the COASTLINE platform, a WebGIS platform central to the project’s objectives. This platform will harmonize datasets and outcomes from previous work packages (WP3-4-) for hosting on the COASTLINE platform. The initial stage involves conceptualizing the platform’s design, establishing its basic principles and layers, and defining cartographic elements such as projection and symbols. The platform will enable researchers to upload data, enhance project visibility, and provide access to additional data and maps from open-source databases. Accessible across various devices, including desktops, laptops, and mobile devices, the COASTLINE platform will facilitate real-time interaction and input from end-users.
Key Objectives:
- Conduct research to analyze data, user profiles, requirements, and technology for the design of the WebGIS COASTLINE Platform.
- Identify user needs and preferences through methods like questionnaires and interviews.
- Analyze various web-based GIS platforms to ensure compatibility, data protection, security, and accessibility.
- Implement the WebGIS COASTLINE Platform based on the research findings and conceptual design.
- Ensure the platform’s interoperability with project webpages and data sources.
- Provide a report on user evaluation feedback and integrate it into the platform, along with a plan for sustainability, updates, technical support, and promotion.
