His work focused on multi-hazard risk assessment for coastal archaeological sites in Cyprus — combining satellite-derived hazard data, site vulnerability characteristics, and visitor exposure indicators into a single, standardized Risk Index (R = Hazard × Vulnerability × Exposure).
What excites him most is that this methodology is built entirely on open, public data — which means it’s not locked to Cyprus. It can be extended to other coastal heritage sites across the Mediterranean, giving institutions a ready-to-use, decision-support tool for prioritizing conservation and monitoring efforts where they’re needed most.
It was a genuinely unique experience to study archaeological sites through a completely different lens — literally “seeing” them from space, and translating satellite and open geospatial data into something institutions can act on directly.
